Evaluation

At Elite Physical Therapy, we use the most up-to-date evidence-based assessments combined with the renowned Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) movement assessment to provide each and every patient with the most specific treatment and prognosis.

MDT is a comprehensive system of examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention and prevention strategies aimed at empowering the patient through education and independence from the medical practitioner. Driven by sound clinical reasoning for individualized plans of care, MDT has been known to show results in as little as two to three visits. Although self-treatment principles are the ultimate goal, hands-on manual techniques may be used readily to assist with your recovery. MDT is used worldwide and has been shown through evidence-based research to classify and provide quick and lasting results to over 75% of patients that step into a typical outpatient physical therapy clinic. A therapist who utilizes an MDT assessment can safely and effectively assess all musculoskeletal conditions including spinal and extremity pain.

In addition to being as effective as possible, we also understand that our patients’ needs differ from case to case. Because we understand that each individual is different, we offer home visits, Skype visits, and 24-hour access to each therapist.

A typical examination goes as follows:

  • Multiple performance and self-reported outcome measurements.

  • Evaluation of pertinent body systems (cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, etc).

  • Examination of movement and/or movement impairments.

  • Repeated Movement Assessment (Hallmark of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy).

  • Specific education based on each individual situation, including but not limited to diagnosis/classification, prognosis, treatment principles, treatment exercises, and assessment.
